Heavenward Hikes began in Lakeland, Florida, with a simple desire to bring women together to walk, connect, and intentionally make space for God in His creation. But the vision doesn't stop here.
We would love to see Heavenward Hikes take root in other communities through local Chapters led by women who feel called to gather others and create this same simple experience on the trails near them.
You don't need to be a Bible teacher or hiking expert. Just someone willing to bring people together, guide the Heavenward Hikes experience, and help create a welcoming space for connection, reflection, and faith.

How a Heavenward Hike
Comes Together
A simple rhythm that guides every Heavenward Hikes gathering.
gather
Each Chapter hosts an official Heavenward Hike once a month, ideally on the second Saturday of the month.
The goal is for Heavenward Hikes Chapters everywhere to gather on the same day—different trails and different communities, but one shared experience.
The Trail Guide chooses the trail, schedules the hike, shares the details with the local Chapter, and welcomes everyone as they arrive.
Before heading out, allow a few minutes for everyone to meet, connect, and get ready for the trail. Keep it casual and welcoming.
Chapters are also welcome to organize additional hikes throughout the month on any day that works for their community.

Read
Before starting the hike, the Trail Guide introduces the Trail Verse for the day. This is any verse the Trail Guide decides to bring.
The verse can be:
Handed out on a printed Trail Verse card
Provided on a simple piece of paper
Written down by participants on paper/sticky note provided by the Trail Guide
Everyone is invited to carry it with them as they walk.
There is no lesson or discussion at this point. The verse is simply something to reflect on personally along the trail.
Walk
Hit the trail.
Participants are encouraged to enjoy the hike in whatever way feels natural: talk with others, enjoy God's creation, or spend some quiet time reflecting on the Trail Verse.
There is no expectation to stay silent, discuss the verse, or have a particular spiritual experience.
Walk. Connect. Notice. Reflect.
Trail & Truth
At the end of the hike, gather together again for a few minutes.
The Trail Guide invites anyone who would like to share something that stood out during the walk; perhaps something from the Trail Verse, something they noticed in creation, or simply a thought they are taking home with them.
Sharing is always optional.
The Trail Guide facilitates the conversation rather than teaches it. There are no right answers and no expectation that everyone speak.

Close the hike with a simple prayer.
The Trail Guide may ask if anyone has a prayer request they would like to share and then offer a brief closing prayer for the group.
Keep this moment simple and natural; a peaceful way to close the time together.
