Hearts Along the Trail: Discovering God's Love

September 12, 2026 | Lake Parker Park in Lakeland

Sometimes God speaks to us in the most unexpected ways. During our Heavenward Hikes adventure at Lake Parker Park in Lakeland, Florida, what began as a simple morning walk turned into a beautiful reminder of just how present God's love is in the smallest details of His creation.

A Trail Filled with Little Reminders of Love

I was joined by my friend Irene for a beautiful morning exploring the trails of Lake Parker Park. We were looking forward to enjoying nature, getting some fresh air, and spending time together, but we had no idea just how special this hike would become.

It started with a heart.

Then another.

And another!

We began noticing heart shapes everywhere! In the pavement beneath our feet, on tree trunks, in the shapes of leaves, hidden within wood grain, and even among the rocks along the trail.

One heart after another, until it became almost impossible not to notice them.

What might have seemed like ordinary details suddenly became extraordinary. We found ourselves looking a little closer, smiling at each new discovery, and feeling surrounded by reminders of God's love.

It was such a simple experience, yet so meaningful. Everywhere we looked, there seemed to be another little heart waiting to be discovered.

Our Trail Verse: Psalm 119:105

"Your word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."

This verse was especially meaningful for our hike.

Psalm 119:105 reminds us that God's Word guides our steps, illuminating the path before us even when we cannot see everything that lies ahead.

As we walked, discovering heart after heart, I couldn't help but think about how God reveals Himself when we're willing to pay attention.

His Word guides our direction, and His creation gives us countless opportunities to pause and reflect on His goodness.

Those hearts weren't something we had planned to find. But they became personal reminders of a love that is always present, even when we aren't actively looking for it.

When We Walk with an Open Heart

One of the most beautiful lessons from this hike was realizing how much there is to discover when our hearts are open to what God may reveal along the way.

We can walk the same trail, pass the same trees, and step over the same stones without ever noticing the little details surrounding us.

But when we slow down, become intentional, and open our hearts to His presence, even the ordinary can become meaningful.

A shape in a leaf. A pattern in a tree. A heart hidden in the pavement.

Little reminders that invite us to pause, smile, and remember how deeply we are loved.

And perhaps that's one of the greatest blessings of spending time in God's creation. It gives us space to disconnect from the noise of everyday life and reconnect with what truly matters.

More Than Miles, Memories That Matter

Our hike at Lake Parker Park became so much more than a walk through nature. It was a morning of friendship, laughter, discovery, and a beautiful reminder of God's love.

Sharing those moments with Irene made the experience even more special. Each new heart became another memory, another reason to smile, and another opportunity to appreciate the beauty surrounding us.

That's the heart behind Heavenward Hikes. We walk to explore, to connect, to grow in faith, and to discover the truth God reveals through His creation.

Sometimes the greatest discoveries aren't the breathtaking views or the miles we've covered. Sometimes they're the smallest details that speak directly to our hearts.

And on this particular morning, those little details were hearts everywhere.

What an amazing reminder that there's so much to discover when we walk with our eyes open, our hearts receptive, and our attention turned toward Him.

Walk His Creation. Discover His Truth.
